My name is Claudia Haywood and I am the founder of New Phase Counseling, LLC. I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana, with a minor in Speech Pathology. After earning my B.S., I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas earning a M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy.
With each client being different, I select my therapeutic approach based on the client’s personality, wants, and needs. As your therapist, I aim to assist with cultivating self-awareness, unlearning negative generational traits, navigating childhood traumas and establishing boundaries. Together we will process thoughts and emotions while developing feasible tools to utilize to better assist with navigating your life. Everyone can benefit from therapy. While providing a safe, judgement free environment, it would be my pleasure to go on this life altering journey with you!
I have clinical experience in assisting individuals who are struggling with relationship conflict, childhood trauma, emotional disturbance, anxiety, depression, eating disorders/body image, life-transitions and more. I specialize in working with African Americans, POC and the LGBTQ+ community.
Everyone is capable of change and recreating their story. It starts with self awareness and honesty.
