I understand first hand how the stories we tell ourselves can get in the way of living fully and thriving on purpose. As a former foster youth, survivor of sexual trauma and poverty, I aim to help clients make meaning of their life experiences and move from surviving to thriving. Our past can keep us in survival mode long after painful events have ended. I believe my life experiences can provide resonance, a helpful tool in providing empathy which is important for every journey towards healing. I am a trauma-informed, whole-body therapist and I build relationships with folx who want to trust themselves and others. I support your understanding of experiences and help you use the tools that will produce confidence, compassion, and open hearted purpose. My passion is working with people of color and trauma survivors to break cycles of transgenerational trauma to create new paths, traditions, and coping strategies for a healthy well-being. Understanding that therapy does not have a one-size-fits-all approach, I am adaptive to each client’s needs and goals. My approach is of a strength-based nature using relational therapy techniques, interwoven with threads of narrative therapy.
My approach incorporates:
CURIOSITY guides your discovery, I ask the questions that help you understand how you are in the world and from that understanding you will decide what changes you want to make.
EMBODIMENT is a skill that connects you to your body, I help you grow that skill so you have reliable access to your own inner wisdom, past and present.
EMOTIONAL EDUCATION demystifies feelings, emotions and behavior so you can make adaptive choices and build strategies that connect with your values and nurture the relationships you deserve.
